DEVELOPERS
Bring store context into your development workflow.
Inspect Shopify theme files, API capabilities and store context from an MCP-compatible coding client with explicit permission boundaries.
A STARTING PROMPT
A practical workflow for developers
Inspect the theme dependency graph and the failing template. Explain the likely cause and propose the smallest change, with a verification plan.
This is an example request to adapt to your store, not a recorded customer result.
INSPECT · REVIEW · VERIFY
Work through a defined scope
- Connect an MCP client and inspect the available tools and Shopify capabilities. Use Shopify’s developer resources to confirm API fields and version-specific requirements.
- Read the relevant Liquid files and dependencies. Separate local source changes from store operations; review a diff before applying either.
- Use a working theme for store-side edits. Run supported validation, inspect the rendered result and check the relevant commerce interaction before requesting publication.
BOUNDARIES
What to check before you begin
Tool discovery is not authorization. Token profiles, entitlements and store capabilities all apply. The server does not provide unrestricted GraphQL mutations.
Free includes inspection and supported recovery. Pro enables advanced workflows and routine modifications; permissions still apply. Compare store seats and plans.
